Day #2

“Dress to lace up shoes”

Okay, I did this. I got dressed this morning, I “did” my hair. (Washed, brushed, pulled into a pony tail). But I’m still not done with my sink. I know….but you have NO idea how bad my dishes were. Good, the bad and the ugly right? I hadn’t DONE my dishes completely….for a while. Why am I posting this stuff? WHY am I opening myself to this sort of virtual humiliation?

I did some soul searching. I decided to treat it not as something to be “ashamed” of, but as something I’m HEALING from. It’s part of depression, part of anxiety disorder. It’s part of ME.

So…it’s only day two. I’ll get the dishes finished up tonight. I will do this.

FlyLady.net

I’ve decided to give this approach to decluttering and taming my life…a whirl. I’m also going to *GULP* document. Please please please, this is hard for me. This mean airing my dirty laundry (literally) for the world to see, but what I’m hoping for is accountability. I struggle BAD with self-management. I can’t keep on top of my day-to-day life and tasks and they eat me alive. My house…is a wreck. I’m hoping I can turn this over with FlyLady’s small, manageable steps. I’ll try to take pictures of the process which…the before pictures aren’t going to be pretty. I hope the after pictures are somewhat better.

So…here’s to day one. “Shine your sink”. To get to it, I need to wade through a LOT of dishes…I’ll get a picture of it tomorrow.

I shouldn’t blog so angrily…

After the last post (I’m leaving it up!) I got to thinking I should be more positive. So here’s what I’ve finished, my “better than a moleskine” journal:

This is NOT coptic stitch binding…it only wants to be. this is my own messed up version, AKA “I put the needle WHERE?” binding.

The cover used to live life as a piece of cardboard backing for a sketchpad. It’s wonderfully sturdy. I covered it in scrap paper that I got at walmart…the whole scrap pad was only FIVE BUCKS! Gotta love cheap.

The paper is a mixture…some of it is ‘acrylic’ paper, some watercolor paper and some computer paper. I got the acrylic and watercolor papers in pads purchased at Ollies for about $2 a piece. Not bad!

The binding is a bit tight I think because the books tends to pop open a little. But all in all I’m very happy with how it came out! It’s a bit bigger than the moleskine but not much and much more cost effective!

I can’t believe out of a whole week I only managed two days!

I’m shocked! I thought I’d do better at the blog challenge, but I didn’t! I missed 5 out of 7 of the days to post. Man oh man…

So I spent this weekend offline. I went over to my folks most of the weekend and took my sister and my son out to see HOP. Let me just say….it was probably about the crappiest plot I’ve ever seen in a kids move. I’m shocked at the amount of…ahem…JELLYBEANS…we feed to our children, expecting them to swallow it. (Yes, the rabbit poops jelly beans.) The whole plot was weakly centered around a 30 year old man who realizes his life long ambition is to BE the Easter bunny.

Okay, I don’t make any claims to be christian. But this movie was vaguely offensive to both the Christian and Pagan notions of “Easter”. Or maybe I’m just reading into it to much. But we’ve GOT to stop dumbing down our children and ourselves! We shouldn’t force our kids to watch this mindless CRAP and feeding into that hollywood idiocy that thinks a few good one-liners is an excuse for shoving it down our throats.

Sorry, I really didn’t care for the movie. Rant over.

Day #5 (I’ve missed days…)

An alternative blog post. I failed to record my modern interpretive dance…you’ll have to use your imagination.
